Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach out to me at blacksheeptherapy@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

During our first 'Getting to Know You' sessions I will be talking to you, your family and anyone else you feel has information you want them to share. If I am working with a child ill usually spend some time with them , this can be anything from playing, to chatting or simply being in the same room while gathering information from parents and carers. I will go through a really thorough history, from pregnancy and birth up to the present day and ask a lot of questions- this is why we can spread it over a couple of sessions at it can feel like a lot to go through at once.

Sessions come in a wide variety of styles and settings, they really will depend on each individual person, family and location. From play based, talking at home, coffee out and hands on time, each session is different. However, I will always make sure we have discussed any specific requirements;  these are often about loose or 'messy' clothing, additional travel or meeting outside your home, in advance, and these will be detailed as part of our therapy plan.

I aim to be as flexible as possible with fees and costs, recognising that its a daunting process. Where possible i will ensure that people have access to the support they need and offer a sliding scale when I can. I will also direct people to charitable, statutory and other support that may be available to support them access therapeutic input.

  • There is No charge for a conversation to see if you think I might be helpful.

From first contact through to ongoing sessions, I believe that a quick chat can be incredibly helpful and don't charge for these.

I'm happy to liaise and work with any other agencies or people involved with you and your family.

I think the simple answer then is that we're doing something wrong. Sometimes support isn't with a child or young person directly, working through family members or others involved provides everything that is needed and more. However ,i will always try and ensure that sessions are fun meaningful, and sometimes messy.

Life happens, especially when children are involved. As a parent i recognise that sometimes we can't plan for the days when it all goes wrong or unexpected things happen.

If you need to cancel or rearrange an appointment, I simply ask that you give as much notice as possible.

Where less than two hours' notice is given, a £30 cancellation fee will apply. As a sole practitioner, I spend time preparing for each family before we meet, and I work flexibly—often outside traditional working hours—to make appointments as accessible as possible. The cancellation fee helps cover the time that has already been committed to your session.
